Battery Storage Systems for Grid-Connected PV Systems Design & Install

Fees: $2,595 ($1500 payable on enrolment and remaining fee to be paid at time of practical course dates.)

Units: UEERE0054, UEERE0060, UEERE0077, and UEERE0078.

Course Duration:
Online Self-paced & 2 Days Face-to-Face Course, START IMMEDIATELY

The Battery Storage Systems for Grid-Connected PV Systems: Design and Install Course consists of two main components:

  1. Online theory completed at students’ own pace with tutor support.
  2. A face-to-face (2 days) practical component held at an Energy Training Group Training Facility.

The delivery mode of this course is designed for busy tradespeople who do not have the time to attend lengthy face-to-face courses to expand their knowledge and skills, the fully flexible online component allows students to complete the theory in their own time.

To enroll in this course, you must be a licensed electrician and have previously completed the units of competency UEENEEK125A,UEENEEK135A and UEENEEK148A, OR have completed the units of competency UEERE0011, UEERE0022 and UEERE0016.

Students who successfully complete all components of the course will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units of competency UEERE0054, UEERE0060, UEERE0077, and UEERE0078.

Register now and enjoy flexible start times — complete the course at your own pace.

Training Outcome

Successful completion of this course will result in the award of a Statement of Attainment in the current version of the following Units of Competency:
UEERE0054
Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems
UEERE0060
Design grid-connected battery storage systems
UEERE0077
Install battery storage equipment power conversion equipment to grid
UEERE0078
Install battery storage to power conversion equipment
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be eligible to apply to the Solar Accreditation Australia for the Design & Installation of Battery Storage accreditation.

An electrical licence is a prerequisite for enrolment in this course.

This course builds on the knowledge of the Grid-Connected PV Systems Design and Install course, so a prerequisite for enrolment is a Statement of Attainment in the following Units of Competency:

  • UEERE0054 : Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems
  • UEERE0061 : Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
  • UEERE0051 : Apply electrical principles to renewable energy design

This course uses two delivery methods:

  • Online theory completed at students’ own pace with the assistance of a tutor.
  • 3-day practical component held at the Training Facility of Energy Training Group.

Online component: The time to complete the online component will differ between students, but students should expect to commit around 84 hours (60 hours for online content and assessments, and 24 hours for the design task).

Practical sessions: Approximately 60% of the online assessments must be completed before attending the face-to-face practical component.

Courses are valid for twelve (12) months. Extension fees apply from the date of expiry, and the maximum extension permitted is six (6) months from the date of expiry.

Students can  buy the book from SAI Global website or the Techstreet website. For your information, the book is also available for reading in some libraries, institutions, and industry associations in Australia: AS/NZS 5139 – Electrical installations – Safety of battery systems for use with power conversion equipment
  • AS/NZS 4777.1 – Grid connection of energy systems via inverters – Part 1: Installation requirements
  • AS/NZS 5033 – Installation and safety requirements for photovoltaic (PV) arrays
  • AS/NZS 3000 – Wiring Rules
  • AS/NZS 3008.1.1 – Electrical installations – Selection of cables
Enrolled students in this course must also have:
  • Computer with a reliable Internet connection
  • Scientific calculator
  • Email account, checked regularly
